Wes Anderson's New Film: The Darjeeling Limited.
As an update to news we’ve covered earlier, we’re now able to discuss Wes Anderson’s next film (besides the in-limbo stop-motion animated The Fantastic Mr. Fox) by name: The Darjeeling Limited. Besides titling the previously untitled, Production Weekly has the scriptwriting line-up, consisting of Anderson, Roman (son of the celebrated, brother of the scrutinized) Coppola, as well as Rushmore star/BSLS whipping boy Jason Schwartzman. Owen Wilson will play one of three brothers on a journey through India. Production is slated to start in December. Update 8/4: Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman have been confirmed, by Owen, as playing his brothers in the film.
But what of Noah Baumbach, who took the reins as Wes’s writing partner after Owen put all of his money on acting? After the fair to middling reception for The Life Aquatic, the two sat down together to write the screenplay for Mr. Fox., but there’s no word at this time about any involvement in Darjeeling. Baumbach’s directorial follow-up to The Squid and the Whale, what we’ll refer to as “The Untitled Noah Baumbach Project“, is in post-production. The film stars John Turturro, Nicole Kidman, Jack Black, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

so is schwartzman also starring or just writing? i can’t imagine that he would do just one…great news my friend, thank you!

Details are sketchy at best Kory. Owen was the first to mention the project last week, but the few sources I’ve read don’t have any more info. I’d expect that more details will trickle out in the next few weeks, if not sooner.

i feel your webssite is unfairly biased against jason schwartzman. i find his brand of nebbish character acting sublime! plus, he’s smart; he’s dating zooey deschanel.

Joey. That’s the first I’ve heard of Luke Wilson being involved. Do you have a link or source for that? For now it’s totally unsubstantiated.

I’m really excited about The Darjeeling Limited - especially to see the much talked about new British actress Amara Karan make her movie debut. She’s a really exciting and refreshing new talent and I have a feeling we’re likely to see a lot more of her!

The Life Aquatic is one of my all-time favorite movies. Anyone who says otherwise is just plain rude… and ignorant.
Thank you.

I could never understand the strange reaction to The Life Aquatic. I thought it was brilliant and as time goes by people will rediscover/ appreciate it. my 7-year-old son loves it too.

I’m really excited about Amara Karan too. I saw her perform at the Soho Theatre in London and she was outstanding. I think she’ll be a very big name in the near future - watch this space!

I feel your comment is biased. :)
I can’t wait for this movie. Best thing to do is not think about how long it is going to take to be released or I might die. Bill Murray and Wes Anderson make a great team.

I absolutely love “A Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou”, it has some of the chillest sets and period costumes ever gift-wrapping even more eccentric and interesting characters.

this is going to be awesome!
May 16th, 2007 at 7:55 am
Are you kidding me…I love the Wilson/Anderson team, but The Life Aquatic was such a let down on so many levels!
May 26th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
Can’t wait to see this movie.

I am not sure if this is true but I read somewhere that Steely Dan might be doing the soundtrack. I read that Donald Fagen and Walter Becker are fans of Wes Anderson and had some ideas for some music for his next project. This could be very, very interesting!!!!

Nice to know that Darjeeling is such a famous brand name. I am from Darjeeling and I hope the crew visits Darjeeling. Maybe we can get a glimpse or two of the hollywood stars.
June 28th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Wes anderson is a genius and I cannot wait to see Darjeeling and i hope the soundtrack is at the same level as the past soundtracks
June 28th, 2007 at 1:12 pm
Rushmore, Tennenbaums, and Aquatic were all masterpieces (so was Squid and the Whale). Cannot wait for the new one.

Im so excited for this! Ive watched every single Wes Anderson film and I own half of them aswell. His movies (and I know this sounds lame, but..) are magic, they are pure magic- they make me laugh, even cry sometimes, and just feel good.
If I could meet mr Anderson all I would have to say would be to just keep making those movies, don’t change anything at all.
This will definately be my favourite movie of the year..
For “the fantastic Mr Fox”: I heard Jim Carrey was playing a part in this?? anyone know if thats true?
oh yea, btw, what happened to bill murray? =\

Amara is ugly. No actually, Fugly. She must be South Indian.
September 27th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
Amara isn’t very pretty. Sadly, because of her ugliness she just get old maid character roles.
September 28th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
steely dan or “the dan” dont seem to like owen very much. saying he robed their song for the idea of “you me and dupree”
October 1st, 2007 at 1:20 am
Amara is one of the hottest and talented women on the planet.
Zissou was an utter masterpiece.
Darjeeling is pretty damn great as well.
I have spoken.
Oh, Hotel Chevalier was also marvelous.
