Peter Krause Miniseries 'The Lost Room': Librarians Do Not Approve

peter krause the lost room

Featuring Peter Krause, The Sci-Fi Channel’s miniseries The Lost Room is currently in production, and not making friends within the public library system in Santa Fe, NM, according to the local newspaper. And yes, I am contractually obligated to cover all Six Feet Under related news. From a library insider mailing list:

So Lions Gate is filming a scene for their SciFi channel series The Lost Room in our Southwest Room. The parking lot is full of equipment, the building is full of guys who look like they belong in California. (Though in fact the governor has lured LionsGate to base itself in Albuquerque, which is probably why the City decided we must play host to them.) This would be only inconvenient for the patrons, and both disruptive and entertaining for us, except YOU SHOULD SEE THE ACTRESS THEY’VE GOT PLAYING THE LIBRARIAN. She is about 75, greyhaired, frail, and plainly grumpy. She’s presently sitting in the Magazine Room wearing sensible clothes and waiting for her call, and I gotta tell you, we are really really pissed off at this casting decision. I mean, they coulda gotten someone who looks like… almost any one of us… instead. The locations guy says the character is not a librarian but an archivist. This is supposed to assuage our irritation at being stereotyped. He tells us that according to the script her name is Mabel.

[…] - Last warning for the debut Six Feet Under’s Peter Krause in the Sci-Fi Network’s miniseries The Lost Room (earlier chatter here and here). View clips and promos from the official site, and another 2 minute clip featuring Krause and Juliana Margulies, provided by IGN. The Lost Room premieres Monday, December 11th. […]

  2. Alan Says:

The “librarian” in the story was a young newlywed — in 1961, when the event that created the “Lost Room” happened. So she has to be at least 65, not because they think librarians are necessarily dried up spinsters.
